"Where The Wild Things Are" is a shitty book...even for kids...

Even Michael Puckett might agree! (I haven’t asked him yet though, so I’m not sure).

Koyasan

Last Friday, on a whim, I decided to take a train down to the head of a 23km trail that would take myself and two friends to the town of Koya, the heart of a sect of Buddhism called Shingon.

From Bowling Green to Silver Screen

/ By Alexis Gonzales

Driven by ambition and a collective creativity, Hunter Curry and Drew Ingram have combined their talents to create the local film production company, Outrider Entertainment.

Before forming Outrider Entertainment, Hunter Curry worked on a feature film entitled “The Willows.” The film, directed by Ron DeMarse, acted as a taste of the feature film experience for Curry. The taste ushered a desire for more.

Curry and Ingram previously collaborated to complete a short film. During the production of the film, both parties became aware of the others professionalism and obvious drive to create an outstanding project.

Looking for a way to unite their efforts and like-minded ambition, Ingram and Curry created Outrider Entertainment with the ultimate goal of creating a feature film.

Before stepping up to the challenge of writing and producing a feature film, the pair have worked on several other projects. The productions have varied from weddings to music videos.

The projects outline what Curry considers to be a major pillar of Outrider Entertainment’s philosophy: that they can take a project and make it equal or better than the competition, and for a cheaper price.

“Drew and I always try to outdo ourselves with each project,” said Curry. The gradual process has led both to the threshold of creating a feature film.

Over the span of three months, Ingram produced a preliminary script that was shared with Curry. The story has some loose connections to Dante’s Inferno and is considered a classical piece. While initially hesitant, Curry eventually shared the passion for the project that was already injected by Ingram.

The project however is not without obstacles. Ingram says, “Indie films are half about the art, half about the story, and half about the money.” With a $2 million dollar budget, outside investors are main priorities in the process of production.

Ingram outlined the general process the film is proceeding through. Initially the main goal is creating a story, and is followed by obtaining the money to bring the story to life. The final step is the actual filming and production of the feature film. Outrider Entertainment is currently in the stage of obtaining funding and has been for roughly six months.

A recent meeting with a local Kentucky producer shows some promise, said Ingram. “Producers said, ‘We like what you’re doing, show us a script.’” Ingram hopes to have a final and complete copy of the script by the beginning of next year.

I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be an ass or anything but I know for a fact that they have shots on the demo you posted the link to that aren’t theirs. Not only are they not their shots, they were in no way involved in the making of them. I personally was involved in two short films that they have used a lot of shots from and I didn’t see them staying up late working on the videos. If you’re going to create a demo reel for your company you should at least do it legitimately. It makes me sick that people are looking at the great work that my friends created thinking these two guys did it.
